OLIVER

Oliver Wendel Jeremiah Jenkins Finch
Had the longest name in the land
Tatoo'd on his fingers were his names
You could see them when he waved
Or when he smiled
And shook your hand

Now Oliver wasn't your average everyday boy
But had a heart of Gold
Never played football or hide and seek
He never seemed to fit that mold
Instead he wore sneakers that didn't match
His hats were big and bright
His shirts hung low below his knees
And never seemed to fit
Fit quite right

Oliver Wendel Jeremiah Jenkins Finch
Never cared what the others would say
He went about his business in his own way
Oliver Wendel Jeremiah Jenkins Finch
Had a smile for everyone when the sun came up
Until the day was done
Until the day was done
Until the day was done

Now I remember once when Oliver went to school
He traveled by bus that day
He ran into some kids who treated him cruel
And bullied him along the way
But Oliver he didn't seem to mind
But that was no surprise to me
He never took himself or anyone else
Seriously

So just like you and I there were times in his life
Full of trouble and sometimes strife
People would mock and call him names
But he never played those childish games
His interests lay in only one thing
In all the joy that he could bring

Oliver Wendel Jeremiah Jenkins Finch
Never cared what the others would say
He went about his business in his own way
Oliver Wendel Jeremiah Jenkins Finch
Had a smile for everyone when the sun came up
Until the day was done
Until the day was done
Until the day was done

Oliver Wendel Jeremiah Jenkins Finch
Had the longest name in the land
Tatoo'd on his fingers were his names
You could see them when he waved
Or when he smiled and shook your hand
And shook your hand
And shook your hand
And shook your hand
